Tobias Steiner: My 3rd week in Crete

This week of my Erasmus+ internship was quite eventful. On Monday we took part in a sailing excursion from the port of Heraklion to nearby Dia Island. It was quite exciting as there were many waves and a lot of wind. Dia Island had a nice bay where we went swimming.

On Saturday we ventured on a bus tour to Chania, the second bigest city in Crete. There we had around two and a half hours to explore the city and to eat at a local restaurant. Chania is a beautiful city with a historic backround stating back over 5000 years.

Back on the bus, we made a stop at Lake Kournas. Lake Kournas is a fresh water lake where a lot of turtles live, located between high mountains. By renting a paddle boat we were able to observe these creatures in their natural habitat.

On the way back we made one more stop in Rethymno, third biggest city in Crete. After exploring the old town for a little while we made our way back to Heraklion.
