Ending the second and starting the third week of our stay here in Sweden, we decided to visit the achipelago. If you are looking for an idyllic escape from the hustel and bustle of city life, look no further than Ingarö, an island just a short drive from Stockholm. Nestled in the beautiful achipelago, Ingarö offers a perfect bled of nature, relaxation und adventure. Here is a glimpse into my time spent in a cozy bungalow by the sea.
Upon arriving at our bungalow, I was instantly captivated by the stunning views of the shimmering sea. Our bungalow was well equipped with modern amenities including a convenient ice machine, which would later prove to be a delightful addition to our grill nights.
The weather could have been better, it was changing all the time but still we managed to spend a lot of time on the rocky beaches. Even though it was not really warm outside, the sea temperature made it quite pleasant. With hardly anyone around, it was easy to feel as if we had the whole island to ourselves.
As the sun dipped lower in the sky, we fired up the grill for a classic Swedish barbecue in the evenings. We sizzled up some locally sourced meat and vegetables, pairing them with a fresh bread and a refreshing salat. The ice machine came in handy, allowing us to cool down our drinks.
We also spent a lot of time reading in our outdoor lounge area as well as exploring some nearby hiking trails once it was cloudy and rainy. The lack of crowds and noise allows for a truly peaceful experience, making it easy to recharge and reconnect with nature. If you are in search of a retreat where you can escape the chaos of daily life, make sure to add Ingarö to your travel list.
The rest of our week we spent working at Palfinger and walking around the city.
Also, we have been in every single Souvenir shop in Gamla Stan. On Thursday we decided to go shopping in the biggest shopping centre of Stockholm, called Westfield mall. With 5 floors it’s quite hard to orientate oneself. We also definitely lost some money there; you can literally find everything there and satisfy all your needs. Let’s hope we can manage to close our suitcases! 😊
