Sarah: a memorable last week in Stockholm

Hey everyone, the time has sadly come for me to tell you about our last week here in Stockholm. Our week kicked off in Nynäshamn, a coastal gem just south of Stockholm. The towns beaches were the perfect spot to unwind and soak up the sun. We spent the day lounging on the soft sands, swimming in the clear waters (it was freezing though) and enjoying the breathtaking views. We also explored the harbour and went for delicious seafood at a local restaurant.

The next day we took a trip to Vaxholm, which is a Stockholm archipelago. The charm of the island town is undeniable. I loved the colorful wooden houses and the narrow streets as well as the stone beaches and the beautiful harbour. In the afternoon we found a cozy bar by the waterfront and enjoyed some cocktails.

One of the most unique and enjoyable experiences was swimming right in the heart of the city. Stockholm offers several spots where you can jump right into the sea in the middle of the city. I can think of very few cities where you have the possibility to do so.

Our visit at Gröna Lund, Stockholms iconic amusement park, was one of the most exhilarating days of the week. It offers a wide variety of rides that cater to pretty much all ages. It is located in Djurgarden, directly next to the boat jetty. When getting off the ferry you immediately feel the vibration of the rollercoaster passing right above your head, which makes it even more exciting so Theresa and I of course had to test it. We screamed our hearts out:). We also went for some other roller coasters, free fall towers and carousels. Amusement park fun is an essential part of the experience and Gröna Lund did not disappoint, but after all the excitement and thrills of the rides at Gröna Lund, there was no better way to wind down than by testing the park‘s diverse food spots.

Among the many unforgettable experiences during the week, the highlight was undoubtedly the Pink concert. Even though Pink is not really the type of music I normally listen to, I have to admit that the concert was an absolute blast! She delivered a performance full of hits that everyone could enjoy, proving why she remains a beloved artist around the world.

As our time here draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on this incredible journey this city has taken me on. From the moment I arrived, Stockholm has been more than just a temporary home, it has been a place of learning, adventure and also personal growth. From day one, our colleagues welcomed us with open arms. Their friendliness and willingness were remarkable.

For anyone considering an Erasmus+ internship, I totally recommend doing it. I feel fortunate that I have had the opportunity to spend my time here in Stockholm and I could definitely imagine doing it again next year in a different country! Thank you for reading:)
