Milano! By far the most beautiful city that I have ever been to!
How did I get there? In Week 5 I had one full week that I could spend however I liked and I decided to make a short vacation from Verona to Milano to Torino.
On Monday I went to Verona but mostly to just explore where I could park on Tuesday when I would go to Milano as currently no trains are leaving Schio or Vicenza.
Verona is a nice city I have to say. It is just that you are most likely done with all the exploring within two days. There I met a very nice Argentinian girl who also had Verona as an in-between stop. I learnt a lot about Argentina and also found out that they do not have Mangos... What a shame!
On Tuesday I came to Verona to get to Milano. I Initially planned Milano just as an in between stop for one day as I did not want to go by train for full five hours just to get to Torino for the biggest Egyptian museum in the world outside of Egypt. To be honest I did not expect anything from Milano but I changed my mind very quickly as you will see now.
However, when I left the train in Milano I saw which huge mistake I made... Simply going into the first section of the main train station was simply astounding. Never have I seen such a beautiful main station... It is an old Roman building with all the old statues still inside. I just thought to myself: "If this continues like that, then there is no chance of me visiting the technical museum where DaVinci's work lies.
Well, guess what happened... I spent the rest of the day just exploring Milano and being amazed by the beauty it presents to its visitors!
The first big stop I made of course at the cathedral and the gallery. Simply incredible! (To be honest, I will not even write a lot as this would take up way too much time and I just encourage you to look at the pictures. [Even the pictures can't the match the impressiveness of the city in my opinion])
I then moved on to the library which sadly was closed but at least some statues where exhibited. If you think that some of those things are at least 1200 years old it is impressive how good their condition still is and how skilled those people were back then when it came to making sculptures.
After that I was just strolling around, looking for a park and the next thing simply struck me.
I know that my praise of this city is probably already becoming boring, but I simply fell in love with this place and the beauty it shows! The castle is simply incredible!
After that I got to the fountain before the castle.
The next big thing I saw was the Basilica Sant'Ambrogio. Also very pleasing to the eye!
A lot of other impressive buildings like the Stock Market were also discovered but I will leave it at that for now with Milano as I think that I have done enough advertising and also I do not want to spoil anything for any possible visitors! ;)
The next day I moved on to Torino, here I stuck with the plan of visiting the Egyptian museum. The museum was also astounding and the tour guide taught me a lot of interesting things about Egyptian culture that I did not know before!
If you are at least somewhat interested in History, then I can really recommend visiting this place as there are simply three floors dedicated to Egyptian culture and their history!
And for those whom I have not convinced yet to go to Torino to visit the museum.... They have mummified fish! If this is not enough of a reason I myself do not know...
With that I will leave you, as I would otherwise just keep on talking about how great all these cities are!
